I'm not vain.

I just think he's wrong.   That asshole roomate of mine.   I think he's so wrong he's dead wrong and then maybe dead end wrong.   He's very wrong.

You see, he has a friend back at home that draws webcomics too.   The guys an animation major and wants to do art as a career.

Here's his website ( http://reggieatfefan.tripod.com/ ).

Go ahead, look at a few.   Get a grasp on how he does comics.   Ok back?   Good.

Now, I know I've improved alot in my past years, and I know that my first published comic, Mayday!, was not all that strong on the artistic side.   There were many reasons for this... but I won't list them... because they aren't good reasons...

But my roomate seems to think that "Stars of the Ceiling", his friend's webcomic, is better artistically than Mayday!.   And to this I replied:

"Fuck you!"

For I thought he was kidding.   It apparently isn't a joke though, so I'm asking you folks.   Is he right?

Does "Stars on the Ceiling" look better than my earliest Mayday comics? (Mayday can be found here at the bottom of the page: http://www.nickmongo.com/comics.html ).

Let me know.   Till then I'll keep laughing about that whole "Animation Major" thing.   Buahahah!

When I read "animation major," I got excited, as if I were going to be in for a treat. But the treat was more like brussels sprouts.

Except for "Test Taking," all of your Freshman year comics are better than his. Mayday! sometimes looked sloppy simply because of your effort to create scenery (needless to say, you've gotten an awful lot better at that). This douche bag simply doesn't try, and because of that, the comic looks cleaner than Mayday! But, overall, artistically I would say Mayday! wins.

I wonder if (and hope that) this guy can draw better than this. I'm wondering if this is an example of that minimalistic web comic bullshit that's been going around the interweb or if this guy really just sucks.

I pretty much agree with Flyntz on this.  Artisically, yes yours is much better.  Does it look as clean?  No.  But then if that faggot couldn't even manage to draw that crap cleanly, I'd think all art majors would have to go kill themselves just on general principal.  The verdict: Mayday = sloppy but artistically the superior.

In Mayday!'s defense, I scanned those long before I learned the ABC's and WTF's of scanning a comic strip onto a computer.

Also, backgrounds were always my least favorite thing to do but I felt stupid not having something there so I would just do a simple scribble.   Not the best looking thing in the world, but hey, these were drawn at 1:00 AM during on school nights so I just wanted to get the things done.

But he's a fucking art major!   Doesn't this guy care?   I remember meeting him once and looking into his scetch book like it was going to be interesting for me.   It wasn't though!   It was awful and I didn't learn a thing from them.   Infact, I spent the rest of the night trying to give him tips which he kept absent mindedly ignoring.

His is by far the lesser. Though I do not usually find your comic funny, I must admit to you Nick that I am impressed. Since you started your comic not only has you art improved drastically but so has the funny. However, I am still bitter that my comic was rejected by Henderson on the basis that it was too political. They said it might be offensive.

Wow that some awful trash. LiveJournal the comic for content, and the art is fucking disgusting.

Also, Joe, post the aforementioned comics please.

Ok, I am pretty sure it is still in my old art folder. If not I will do my best to recreate it.

That frog woman in the second panel totally zinged him.   Zinged him so hard he farted in the third panel.

I think it's funny that he thinks there is an apostrophe in the word "gets."

Also, actually wasting a panel to say "zing" is just unacceptable.

Nick there is no way you can match that kind of genius. He must be the internet comic master.
