About a month ago. Went with Mom for a business trip. While she had to do some meetings I walked around the city snapping various photos with my crappy digital camera.

Somewhere near the FED.

Some courtyard near Federal Triangle Station.

Federal Triangle Station. The Metro is the best.

Hallway between the Monroe building and the Jefferson building at the Library of Congress. (More on this later.)

Outside the Jefferson building at the Library of Congress.

Some kooky building along the mall.

The day we left, we had lunch at this turkish place. Apparently Zach and Trini are fans of Eastern foods.

So, about the hallway. I decided I would stay away from the typical D.C. visit and do something most people hardly ever do. So I took the Metro to the Library of Congress. Have never been there, I found the first entrance in the first building I found. It was the Monroe building. Not very fancy. So I went in, and two guards scanned me for bombs/drugs/dildos. After I was cleared, I headed for the nearest elevator in this incredibly boring looking building. That took me to the top floor, where I eventually found the office of the Librarian of Congress. He wasn't there, it was saturday.

Then I went to the elevator again and went to the bottom floor. This place was literally a basement. After a bit of wandering, I found a sign that said "Jefferson Building This Way." I figured Jefferson was as good as Monroe, so I made my way over. After a few minutes I was at a nice looking desk that had a security guard behind it. Next to her was a door leading to the Library of Congress people get shown through a window on tours. She asked: "do you have a card to get in?" "No..." "Would you like to get one?" "Is it free?" "Yup!"

So she instructed me to go back through the hallway back to the Monroe building up to first floor and into an office where they would set me up. And I did. Waiting in line, I started to panic. The first official you met asked what your business in the Library was. I didn't have business! 'm just an awestruck out of towner! When my time came, I told him I had to do research for a school paper. He told me to go to a computer kiosk and follow the instructions. There, I pretty much every defining factor of my legal life. After that, I took my paper work over to a desk that had a camera on it. This was too good to be true! A card!

I always have trouble signing those electronic things. You can't see what you're writing, so if you lose your place or mess up, you're doomed! This is what happened to me.

So I went back through the hallway, to the Jefferson building and into the gigantic library where I read about scientology.

The end.
