My current Nvidia GeForce PCX 5750 PCI-E isn't delivering what it used to, So its time to upgrade to something that will last a lot longer... I was thinking about the Nvidia 7800GTX which retails for $500-$600 depending on the manufacturer. I'm leaning toward BFG's Overclocked version, Though PNY is a little more reliable...Ugh. Yeah $550ish may be a lot, But I feel the need to use the $500 rebate I got from Alienware and put it to some good use. Anyway, If anyone wants the 5750 I'll sell it to you cheap. It retails for $150ish? (not sure), And can handle games like GTASA and Joint Operations on max quality...Though it doesn't stand a chance against games like BF2 and Doom 3 (Doom 3 gets 19FPS on highest quality )

4. All threads regarding technology (ex. "Apple Switches to Pentium") belong in the Tech Barn. This is not retroactive. Sorry chum. I know nothing of video cards. No help here.

Macs don't need to, the most intense games for them are five years old

Actually, Mac hardware could probably at least equal it, if not beat it. The problem with Mac isn't the hardware capability, its lack of software made for it. And AJ, if you're implying you want to use the video card for things like graphic design....well then everyone knows Macs are better for that anyway. Why? They just are! (eg: No one really knows why)

Well as far as I know, the Mac "dream machine" is the PowerMac G5. It comes standard with an ATI Radeon 9650 256MB DDR video memory card, but can be upgraded to either an ATI Radeon X850 XT or an NVIDIA GeForce 6800. So apparently, your purchase seems to be the more capable device, but still, that ain't bad.

The memory clock is identical though. Maybe temp can fill me in on the awesomeness of a G5 processor? I know theres something up with them, but what?

It's not awesome, it's just a fast PowerPC chip, AMD's got them slaughtered. The only thing that makes Macs seem so fast at lower than x86 standard clockspeeds is that the software's precisely tailored to the hardware, making it effecient as hell. PC hardware on the other hand has to deal with a very high amount of variation in hardware and OS structure, so the code has to be more maliable and less direct

They're using a PowerPC chip in the new 360.

PowerPC chips are easier to optimize code for. They're not more powerful, they're more efficent
