Is anyone else kind of freaking out about politics and the state of our country right now? Because I kind of am. I don't know, maybe I'm overreacting. But I think my biggest problem is I feel so helpless. Like, if I could go talk to Obama or something and be like "Look, dude, what the fuck? Would you just fucking grow a pair and shut these crazy assholes down? Seriously!" then I'd feel a little better, but they don't usually let crazy-eyed, curses-like-a-sailor, random chicks have one-on-one pow-wow's with the leader of the free world. I mean, I still believe that he believes in all the stuff he said during the campaign - like, I believe that he wants to do that stuff. But now I'm worried that he might be too much of a pussy to get it done. He actually is too smart, too rational. Or something.
And the weird thing is I don't even really know what I'm afraid of. I'm white, middle class, nothing all that drastic is really likely to change for me. But then I'm the type of person who wants to murder the guy who runs a red light and doesn't get pulled over. Maybe I'm just crazy? Well yeah okay I'm definitely pretty crazy in that regard. But I don't understand how people can see injustice and do nothing about it? I don't want to live in a country run by evangelical Christians. I don't want to live a country where homosexuals can't get married, or serve in the military. I don't want to live a country where rich people pay less taxes than the the impoverished. I don't want to live a country that doesn't provide healthcare to its people, or at least to the people who can't afford it. I don't want to live a country where racism, sexism, homophobia, and "big business" make the policies that govern our lives. Why should I have to just because the people that do yell louder than me? And that's the thing...these tea party people, they don't really want all of those things either. Not really. They're just so stupid they don't understand what's going on, that they're just the puppets of much bigger, eviler puppet masters.
Is it just me? Does anyone feel like this? Helpless and stupid and afraid that they might have to, oh I don't know, move to Canada or something?

I don't think that will ever actually happen. I mean, honestly things aren't even as bad as they seem. The big "Tea Party" candidates like O'Donnell and uh...probably some other people, didn't even get elected. Shit, O'Donnell lost by an EMBARRASSINGLY large margin. I think most people have enough sense not to get behind this wackjobs.
I just wish Democrats would stop being such a bunch of whiny little girls and stand the fuck up for themselves! Obama has accomplished some really awesome shit since he's been in office, but nobody is talking about it because it's all complicated and hard for the average voter (read: stupid fucking red neck) to understand. I mean, it's great that the New York Times and Huff Post write about this stuff like it's their j-o-b's (because it is) but does Johnny Drives A Tractor read either of those two publications? Fuck does he even know what they are? Probably not!
It's totally pathetic that ignorant red neck hick (oh I'm sorry, I mean "average American") has become the ideal that people look for in a leader. Once upon a time, we wanted to elect people who were way fucking smarter than us because oh I don't know, maybe we figured it took someone WAY FUCKING SMARTER THAN US to run the goddamned country! But now...Americans have rejected that! Being intelligent has become undesirable. It makes you an "elitist." What the fuck! Well sure, I want the INTELLECTUALLY ELITE running my country! That sounds like a great fucking idea! I don't want someone in office that I am pretty sure I'm SMARTER THAN making important decisions. That whole movement makes less than no sense to me. Oh and if I hear one more person talk about "Main Street" I swear to god I'm going to go on a shooting rampage in Washington.

Please don't do that, I live here and the traffic is already bad enough as it is.

Ethan I can love the Steelers from anywhere.
But yo seriously know what makes me sad? That like, all Steelers fans out this way are fucking Republicans. You just KNOW they are. Because unless they're actually from Pittsburgh, then they're from the middle of the goddamned state where everyone is all "woooooooooo guns and shit! GOP all da way!" It bums me out.

If it helps, carly, half my office are Steelers fans (the other half being ravens fans) and my office is 95% democrat/liberal.
Additionally though, I know of at least 10 guys who own guns - out of curiosity, what is your stance on guns?
