They've released a ton of new songs off the album on their myspace, and I'm really digging it. They remind me a LOT of early Animal Collective and I dig that, for serious.

I know a bunch of you have heart for these guys and with the album dropping next week, lets start getting excited! hi5

Vampire Weekend is one of those bands that I've always wanted to get way more into, since they are so obviously made of teh win, but I have never really found time for. Which is lame.

The stuff on their myspace sounds awesome though. I continue to love them. They always have (and continue to) remind me of Paul Simon in a Graceland kind of way. And I can never have enough of THAT shit right there.

The new album is pretty dees.  None of the tracks really stuck out to me like Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa or M79, but it will certainly be finding itself in my album rotation for a little while.  They're just such a fun band, I don't think I've ever met anyone who didn't outright dislike them.

Agreed. This sophomore effort is pretty good...at the very least they're not falling into some of the traps that so many bands do, where they either keep making basically the same album over and over again...and then release their greatest hits, nor did they try and stray so far from what brought them fame that they are no longer listenable. That said, I really like Horchata, Giving up the Gun and Taxi Cab.

Yeah, their formula of quirky hipster grooves-meets-classical music still works pretty well.

Grizzly Bear's Veckatimist

Very good album. Wanders at times, but songs like Two Weeks and Fine for Now are awesome. Megan and I are catching Vampire Weekend on March 26th, we'll be sure to post a review soon after the show!
