I started watching BSG with the husband this week. Started with the 3 fucking hour long miniseries (all at once...seriously, fucking long) and we're about four episodes into the first season. He's seen it before but its been years since he watched it (obviously) so its fun because he doesn't remember a lot of the details of the episodes. I know enough spoilers that I'm looking for clues and guessing about things but not enough that it actually ruins anything so its a pretty good balance. I can't believe I didn't watch this when it was on before. It's totally my kind of television.

Well there was only one episode of the season so far (hence the that might change)
it just seemed kind of ... forced. The first season was sort of this random unbridled creative pot of overflowing madness .. the most recent episode seems as though they said "We know what the fans want and we're going to give it to 'em!" only they didn't quite hit the right mark.
Carly - yeah Battlestar Galactica is fucking excellent. Enjoy the ride :)

Yeah so far I'm loving it. I love Gaius and Caprica Six, especially. Together they're just a big ole pot of fucking crazy stew. It's great.

Gaius is by far one of my favorite characters on that show. I'll get more into why when you get further through the series :)

Well he's already pretty high up on my list so its good to know he doesn't suck later. Boomer, on the other hand, annoys the ever loving fuck out of me. What a stupid little bitch. And not just because she's a Cylon, either. I actually like the Cylon version of her back on Caprica a lot more than the one on Galactica. I pretty much figured out what they Cylons are trying to accomplish with Sharon and Helo on Caprica, and honestly I am all for it. I don't think I'm watching the show right....

Saw the first episode of Game of Thrones. As usual, HBO doesn't dissappoint! I'm impressed at how much book they managed to squeeze into the first episode, and how loyal they were to the book. Good stuff.

I was really hoping this was going to be a Tommy Boy situation where it turns out they're just pretending to be related

Just got through the three episode story arc with the Pegasus in Season 2 of Battlestar. I think I'm going to go die now because I can't possibly imagine how anything could be better than that. Jeeze.

Ah for those of you who cared and weren't Ethan, finished BSG a while ago. Still haven't watched any of the mini-movies yet, or the webisodes. I'll get to them eventually. On the whole, I loved it. The ending wasn't as good as it could (should) have been, but I didn't hate it like a lot of people seemed to. I agree with most people who say it would have been much better if it had just skipped that last scene with Gaius and Six at the end in the present day, but even that I didn't totally hate.
Anyway, looking forward to Season 4 of True Blood starting soon. Gonna tackle Deadwood and The Wire next I think. Shouldn't take us too long.

Do the wire first. Deadwood is good, but pales by comparison
Anyone watching 'Chicago Code' or 'The Event?'
I want to say that they're just sort of high-mediocre shows but at the the same time they've got me pretty interested and I look forward to the new episodes on hulu. 'The Event' specifically seems like it could get very good in the 2nd season.
Languidly also following 'Justified' which I do enjoy but I find weird.
Stargate Universe has also picked up in quality, but I hear this was the last season soooo whatever

Yeah I heard that too, about SGU. Gonna watch it once it's done so I can do it all at once. Tried following it when it started but with my schedule couldn't keep up. I'm bummed it got cancelled, though, it seemed to have potential. I'm surprised more BSG fans didn't latch onto it since it has sort of a similar premise. I will admit though that I was even hesitant to give it a shot since most Star Gate has sucked recently. I mean Atlantis was just terrible. Maybe that's what kept potential fans away. Ah well.
I may actually do Deadwood first, because for one I have the whole series on DVD and I've actually seen the first season and a half and absolutely loved it. I don't remember much of the plot, just basic points, but I've been talking it up so much to Ben that I've got myself all psyched up for it.
Justified seems sort of like Deadwood-light for Timothy Olyphant, funnily enough. I base this soley on the fact that he's a gunslinging law enforcement type. I've never actually seen the show.

Justified is sort of like uh True Blood in the sense that its southern politics and whatnot. Its worth watching if you've gotten through the big important shows and you're bored. I'd recommend watching some other shows before you hit justified.
Stargate Universe most definitely had the misfortune to come after Atlantis, which, while it had its moments, was by and by a definite downturn in the series. Compound that with an abhorrently slow startup in the first season, that felt very uninspired, it sort of had its legs cut off at the knees and told to run a 5k. It sought to be a more mature, character driven SG-1, and in doing so probably alienated a lot of the stargate fanbase, which was used to a lot of action and crazy new races and their problems. And then it also suffered from 'Battlestar Glactica' syndrome, where its name alone repelled anyone who wasn't interested in sci-fi to begin with.
I can't tell you how many times i've had people scoff at BSG purely because its name sounded lame. Ultimately, I'm somewhat bummed to see Universe go, as there's a lack of Sci-fi on TV now, but hopefully something new will pop up.

Haha basically SGU:SG1::DS9:TNG. Only DS9 got the benefit of the doubt and full seven year run, thank god.
I had been following V during its first season, but when they took away the availability of online episodes for the second season I lost track. It was pretty bad, though, so I wasn't really that upset. I was just watching it because, like you said, there is a serious lack of sci-fi on television right now and well...I'm a nerd so I need my fix.

Yeah it did. Well...does actually. It's still on the air, surprisingly. The writing was just soooo bad.
