ayn rand isn't a complete waste of time, but you have to take her books with an ENORMOUS grain of salt. i appreciate them for encouraging ppl to be individuals, but everything they have to say about individuals functioning within society is extremely problematic. the biggest problem i have with the idea of making her stuff into movies is the fact that a movie version would gloss over everything. it wouldn't encourage a person to look at her philosophies critically.

saw the king's speech last night ! haha this was like the weekend of movies for me or something. it was amazing ! it was just as good as everyone told me. i loved it. helena bonham carter, colin firth, and geoffrey rush were all fantastic. the clothes were awesome (helena wore all these awesome 1920s hats) and the story had a lot of depth (got into the psychology surrounding the king's speech impediment, plus tons 'o history). see that immediately. it's not a chick flick. werd.  unsmith

Watched MacGruber

which was suprisingly funny and amusing, despite the shallow pretense for a movie. I'd recommend it

I've watched this trailer twice. I don't know why. It is one of those trailers where I feel like I've seen the whole movie just from watching the teaser. I also noticed that anyone who stands in the way of the statuesque, super-capitalist ubermensches is either fat and ugly or fat and ugly and jewish-looking.
