I've had an update planned for a while now, but since I've been back home I've been limited to the use of my mother's hellworthy abomination of a computer. Today is the first time I've been able to get onto the internet for more than five minutes without the fucker restarting itself after freezing everything, including the functions of the keyboard and mouse. Yesterday, I couldn't even start the computer without it locking up on me. Needless to say, I'm thrilled to pieces. Eventually, I'll get something up, but obviously it's not going to be on time. Talk amongst yourselves.

That sounds like a refuge for spyware.

Ya know, I updated all of her spyware and virus scanning software, cause lord knows she hasn't, and I got rid of everything they could dig up. There was quite a bit, but she's got dial-up, so it wasn't overwhelming. I think the problem runs deeper than that. This thing is about six years old after all.

Then it could be lame virus's that replace the OS' files with some trojan. So the computer can't really tell. Format it!

You may have too many programs starting up when you turn on the computer.   Control-Alt-Delete the bugger and look at how many processes are running.

Six years without a clean install'll pretty much ruin any version of Windows ever made, so I'd get going with the C:\format c: /y /s Enter

Have you got a problem with that?

I prescribe some formatting. Also, get Windows 2000 on that sucker. This card over here is running 98.

I can lend you a disk with a serial.
