I've been using Transmission for over a year now, as per Dan's recommendation. It's fairly straightforward and easy to use. I like it just fine, but maybe someone knows something better??

uTorrent's pretty much the best client there is, but it seems that once Bittorrent Inc. bought it the Mac port got stalled. There's a super early alpha floating around but the powers that be say it's a pretty bad idea to use it. I'm thinking you're stuck with Transmission until things even out on that end.

Have you got a problem with that?

I really wish I could use uTorrent. There's always the clunky Azereus.

Azureus isn't THAT bad. I used it for years before I started using* uTorrent, and I never had a problem with the interface. You're just a snob, Delaney.
*I almost said "before Evan suggested" but then I couldn't be sure if Evan had suggested it or Dan. Either one was just as likely, and I didn't want to slight anybody, so yeah...this wasn't necessary just thought I would mention.

And either way, you're still a snob. Azureus is a fine client.

Thanks for the suggestions. Isn't Azureus java-based?

It's not that Azu was ever Bad, it's just pretty heavy, being a java based program. uTorrent came along and did everything that Azu did while running super light and low footprint. If I couldn't use uTorrent for any reason I'd definitely go back to Azu or whatever it's called now.

Java runs over top of OS X/Windows. Therefore it's not directly interacting with the hard ware. This results in slowness. If I can do the same thing natively and faster then I will choose Objective C/C++/C/PASCAL(heh) any day. Java is for last resorts.

Java is also for programmers' sake, rarely the actual application's sake.

Also for when you want something to run on a lot of different things without any of the work that would make them all run well.
