Jump Drive/Mac Networking

I think I fucked up my jump drive. I was using it to transfer files between my Mac and PC, and I went to transfer a few albums I recently downloaded, but Windows claims there wasn't enough space on the jump drive, despite there being no other files on the drive. So, is it possible that using the drive with both Mac and PC messed it up? If so, is it possible to reformat it so that it works again?

Also, I tried to set up a computer-to-computer network with my Mac. I've done it before, and file transfers worked, but this time around my Mac wouldn't recognize my PC (the PC's name didn't show up in the Network tab), despite the PC being connected to the network. Are there any steps along the way that I missed? I created the network with the Mac, created the password, shared the folders on the PC, connected to the network with the PC.

On the Mac did you empty the trash when you had the jump drive open? The drive has its own trash bin, and it won't erase files you delete from it until you empty the trash.

For the flash drive:

Looks like it's become corrupted, probably due to bouncing back and forth from OS X/Windows. You just need to reformat it. 

Go to Go > Applications > Utilities and Open Disk Utility.
Choose your drive from the left panel and then click Erase on the right.
Choose Volume Format, MS-DOS File System will allow the drive to be read on Mac's and PC's and a name.
Click Erase.
