...questions.

After 3 years of hesitating and questioning Apple, I'm getting a MacBook. I'm getting it next month, before my Penn State account expires and I lose my computer store discount.

Of course color is the most important decision. I like the black MacBook with 2GB of memory and a 250GB hard drive standard, but I can easily upgrade the white one to the same specifications but for a lower price. Are there any non-obvious differences between the two?

Next question: the bulk of my music, movies, old papers, etc are stored on an external hard drive formatted for Windows (FAT32, I think). What would be a good method of transferring data from that to a MacBook?

I'm pretty sure if you're willing to upgrade your white MacBook, there shouldn't be any noticeable differences.

As long as the drive is FAT 32, you shouldn't have any problems. Make sure you search Google with your drive model and MacBook model for any unexpected issues. Also, if you have anything really vital on that drive, I suggest you burn it to CD before you proceed.

Groovy. Thanks. I'll probably get the white one, but upgrade it to a 250GB HD and 4GB of memory. I can't wait to get this computer.
