In case you couldn't tell from my previous post, I'm switching to Macs in the very near future. I was on Apple's website looking at MacBooks, and I saw the Apple Mini. Is this some sort of external hard-drive?

It looks like a tiny little CPU, but I'm certainly no Mac expert.

It's a small entry level Mac, which is somewhat underpowered. I have heard however that with more RAM it preforms pretty well.

Have you got a problem with that?

The mac mini is made for people who want a mac but still want to use a PC, or are just nevous about dropping a lot of money on a new OS.

It's a full computer, you just plug in the keyboard, moniter, and mouse you already have and bing bang boom, itsa Mac!

The Mini is composed of MacBook parts without the display.  I considered using one as a media center, until they released the Apple TV.  They are decent machines for the price, and as Rifty said, with a little extra RAM they're pretty sweet.

I think the OS X experience is worth it, but unless you're interested in becoming an Apple convert, I wouldn't advise this purchase. A much better machine can be obtained with the same funds and a special little Linux distro of your choice.
