As part of my thesis class, I need to have a website where I display all my videos. I'm thinking of buying stuartrandle.com, but I've never bought a domain before. I'm going to host all my videos on vimeo.com, so I don't need a lot of hosting space, just enough for a few pages of plain old blog-like layout. What're some good places to look?

The very easiest way would be to simply buy the domain and tack it on top of a free Blogger account. This way you don't have to buy any storage, just the domain.

Dave, you can call me if you need to. I have other alternatives if you don't like this idea.

A domain is only half the battle actually.  So unless Vimeo allows you to make your own personal website, you only have a name for your nonexistent website. Think of it like (it is a car analogy) having a title for a car. The title is the URL you purchase. The car is the actual place where you put your shit. The title directs people to you and your car. The URL is just an easier way to get to an IP address. For example:

216.86.148.10 is the same as http://somethingawful.com

That URL is appended to that IP address. 216.86.148.10 is the literal address of the server that SA put all their stuff on.

Right, but I don't really need my own server space since I'll be embedding all the videos from another site. A simple Blogger page should do nicely.
