I'm pretty clueless when it comes to tech maintenance, so I appreciate your disbelieving grimaces as you read this text. Please forgive my ignorance and my sins and bear with me.

I think my laptop battery is dying. It isn't really holding a charge for any significant period of time.

Plus it keeps coughing while sitting in a rocking chair and remembering the halcyon days of its youth.

Is this one of those: it's time for a new laptop problems? Or can I just pick up a new battery for my model laptop? And would that new battery be expensive?

Sure you can, just google for Replacement Laptop Battery, they do tend to be a bit pricy, in the $80-$150 range though.

There's a method for purchasing the actual cells that make up the battery and replacing those, which is much cheaper, but requires a bit of knowhow and balls, as it's a tad dangerous

Have you got a problem with that?
