Anime Music Videos

I'm sure these are great fun for otaku-film editing people, but I really fucking hate AMV's. I'll do a YouTube search for a band's music video, and I'm attacked with these fucking things. Does anyone actually enjoy watching them?

I guess I might have to be more of an anime junkie to get into them. The only shows I watch are Cowboy Bebop and Rurouni Kenshin.

I hate them as well.   Dragon Ball Z is stupid to begin with, so why would the creator think the musical accompaniment of Linkin Park gives a 3 hour fist fight some deeper meaning?

maybe in some parts of the world, splicing together 20 minutes of Naruto footage and adding a soundtrack makes you really, really cool

There were about 5 other AMVs on that same page. Only one result was the actual song.

I think its something where you really need to be a fan of the genre to appreciate that sort of thing. And its not just done with anime. Pretty much any television show or movie that people obsess over is likely to have a music video made of it.  I don't think there's anything wrong with them, perse, they're just for fun.  Someone was watching some show they like and they thought of some song they liked, made a connection between the two and spliced them together.  Some are even funny.  There was a Big O AMV I really liked back in the day when I also really liked Big O, which was spliced to Dynamite Hack's Boys in the Hood, and it was hilarious.  Well to me it was anyway.  Now granted, DBZ is a terrible show and therefore anything relating to it is terrible, but not all AMV's are really that bad.
