1. Any kind of breakfast and coffee
2. Cake/pie and coffee
3. Oreos and milk (I don't say "cookies" more broadly, because I prefer most other kinds of cookies with, you guessed it, coffee).
4. A good hoagie and a Dr. Pepper
5. Pizza and root beer

I, for whatever reason, can't seem to drink alcohol along with food. The food always seems to make it taste funny.

Now I'm curious.  In the steak/stout combo, do you subsistute the potatoes for the stout?  Because I can't really imagine eating an entire steak, plus drinking a pint of any fine stout, and also accompanying it with any manner of potato. As for my Top Five (no order):

5. Breakfastables and coffee
4. Pizza and beer (preferably a nice cheap lager, something of the Yuengling variety)
3. BBQ and beer
2. Steak and red wine (I like pretty much any red that isn't a Cab or Merlot)
1. Hot chocolate and marshmallows

Incidentally, I've discovered an interesting correlation between coffee, cigarrettes and chocolate (three things that, as a woman who smokes, I equally enjoy).  Coffee+Cigarrettes = Good  Coffee+Chocolate = Good Cigarrettes+Chocolate = Bad.  Leaves a funny taste in your mouth.

That's because you aren't a guy. Now I'm not saying this for all men, boys or people who identify themselves with the male gender, but there is no small amount of...well, I guess lets call it pride...in being able to finish a meal like that. It's got a kind of hairy-chested, virile sort of connotation.

I don't like to drink stouts while eating. Stouts tend to be very flavorful, and I guess I want the full experience without outside interference (i.e. food). Some stouts put hair on your chest all by themselves.
