...and I will use my oh-so-extensive knowledge of the German language to translate it. I got this idea from the last time we went to the diner.
I'll start off with one...
English: That's no moon...it's a space station!
German: Das ist kein Mond...es ist eine Weltraumstation!
Literally, "that is no moon, it is a space-related station."

"Hold 'em off. Angle the deflector shield while I make the calculations for the jump to light speed."
"It's the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs."
"Around the survivors a perimeter create."

"Hold 'em off. Angle the deflector shield while I make the calculations for the jump to light speed." Verteudig gegen ihrem! Angel das Abfälschenschild, obwohl ich kalkuliere für die Lichtgeschwindigkeit gehen! Literally, "defend against them! Angle the deflector shield while I calculate for the lightspeed going!" "It's the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs." Es ist das Schiff dass hat der "Kessel Run" gemacht kleiner als zwolf Parsecs. Literally, "It is the ship that had made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs." "Around the survivors a perimeter create." Ungefähr die Hinterbliebenen, macht ihr einer Perimeter. "Around the survivors, make you (plural) a perimeter" Placing the verb "machen" at the end of the sentence would be poor grammar :frown: "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid."
Faule Religions und altern Waffen es nicht mit einer Sache aufnehmen können gegen eine gute Gewehr bei deine Flanke, Jung. I may or may not had to have taken some liberties with these. Unfortunately, there's no word for "blaster" so I used the word for "gun." I guess you could just as easily substitute it with the word "Blaster" without changing the form, since it's a foreign word. I translated "hokey" as "faul," which means something along the lines of goofy. Keep 'em coming folks. I just hope I'm using the proper grammar.

"She'll be alright." Sie wird ganz richtig. Heh, when I tried to translate it at the diner, I said "Sie will Okay sein." What that means, now that I think about it, is "She wants to be okay." "He doesn't like you! I don't like you either! You best watch yourself, we're wanted men. I got the death senetence in 12 systems." Du gefällst ihm nicht! Du gefällst mir nicht entweder! Du sollst achtgeben, wir sind gesucht gegen bar Menschen. Ich habe das Todesurteil auf zwolfen Sonnensystemen. "You please him not! You please me not either! You should be careful, we are men wanted for cash. I have the death sentence in 12 solar systems." There's different ways to say "to like," I just prefer to use "gefallen."

"These aren't the droids you're looking for." Diese sind nicht die Andröide sich du sehst nach um. "Many Bothans died to bring us this information. Admiral Ackbar, please." Viele Bothans haben für diese Date angesterben. Flaggschiff Ackbar, bitte. The German word "Admiral" also works here. "I've outrun imperial star ships, not the local bulk cruisers, mind you; I'm talking about the big Corellian ships now. She's fast enough for you, old man." Ich habe Kaiserlich Sternschiffe übergeholt, nicht lokal großes Kreutzfahrschiffe, aufpass. Ich spreche über der groß Corellisch Schiffe. Sie ist schnell geung für dich, alter Mann. Usually the -isch suffix denotes some kind of description, but it also refers to a place of origin (i.e. Englisch). I guess "Corellisch" would work, heh. Also, I don't know if "schnell" would be proper here; I think it refers to "haste" moreso than speed. I just think it's a more fun word to say, especially when imitating Nazis.

Flaggschiff Ackbar Mits, this is the best thread that has ever thread. "Would somebody get this big walking carpet out of my way?" "A prophecy that misread could have been."

A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil, helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi knights. He betrayed and murdered your father.
Please do this one.

Mits, this is the best thread that has ever thread. My pleasure "Would somebody get this big walking carpet out of my way?" Willt jemand diese groß Wandernteppich aus meiner Fußpfad antreiben? "A prophecy that misread could have been." Eine Prophezeiung hat falsch gelesen sind worden. That one was tough, and I'm pretty sure I just used terrible grammar. It would be something like "A prophecy had been misread will be." "A young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil, helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi knights. He betrayed and murdered your father." Ein Jung Jedi heißt Darth Vader, wer war mein Praktikant, bis er ist schlecht geworden, hat das Reich geholfen, wann sie haben die Jedi Rittern gejagt und kaputtgemacht. Er hat deinen Vater betrogen und gemordet. Alright, I have to give a literal translation of this one. "A young Jedi who calls himself Darth Vader, who was my pupil until he had become evil, had helped the Empire when they hunted hunted and made broken the Jedi Knights. He had betrayed and murdered your father." "Kaputtgemacht" is the past participle of "kaputtmachen." "Kaputt" means "broken" and "machen" means "to make," so it's "to make broken." The clause about helping the Empire hunt and destroy Jedi Knights was tough to translate. Jedi Knights are in the accusative and the Empire is in the dative case, so I altered the translation a little bit.

Good. That was the point. I fucking hate that quote, and you have dulled the pain it causes me like so much glowy space morphine. Thank you, Mits. Also, if you feel like it: "Your taun-taun'll freeze before you reach the first marker." (This quote should be in every language book.)
