So I once asked some of the techies here what might be causing my system to overheat. I got few answers and so I searched online and found out a few things.
1. There is jack shit I can do to fix it. The problem is caused by a poor system design combined with processors that heat up too quickly and have to be replaced because they damage themselves. Also, the fans gunk up easily and the heatsinks suck and have to be replaced often,
2. The batteried and ac adapters on many 2002-2005 Dell desktops have been recalled.
3. Dell refuses to admit to the problem and would rather replace your parts until you warranty runs out because thats cost effective. Fuck ethical.

So how did I fix the problem?
Cleaned out my fan and removed the battery.
My recommendation? Fuck Dell.

My advice: keep your laptop on hard elevated surfaces at all times. This is how you prevent the fan areas from gunking up.

All times? That's kinda hard. But yeah that's what I do when I don't travel with it.

Laptops are actually bad for laps. The heat from laptops has been shown to lower sperm count. True story.

I know this. As a result of an article you posted, you ruined laptops forever for me.

Just like boxers are better then briefs for the same reason. However, the last thing I need at this stage in my life is lots of sperm.

You could buy a little white Jetta for him to drive along side you. Big Joe. Little Joe.

After a summer of fixing laptops, I also know a few interesting things from personal experience.

Several Dell laptop models use the same keyboard, however Dell charges different prices depending on model

The keyboard on Inspiron laptops is held in by the pressure of the small plastic bar where the buttons are. If the plastic warps, that keyboard is gonna fall right the fuck out. There are no screws holding it.

The shelding used in Inspirions and Latitudes between the components, keyboard, and plastic, is one piece of aluminium. Effectively, this means the computer is using itself as a heatsink. It'll just get hotter and hotter and hotter until something cooks.

In short, fuck Dell.

I've owned various Dells for about a decade now, and I've never really had any problems. I had a very cheap Dell laptop (Latitude D100 issued to all students by Ursinus) for two years, and I had no real issues with it. I've only had my current Dell laptop (Latitude D610 also issued by Ursinus) for six months or so, but I haven't had any problems. I've heard a lot of complaints around campus, but my guess is that these people are treating their laptops like shit.

That's obviously a reasonable explaination, they obviously wouldn't come to me  in solid condition by the very nature of the situation
