Choosing these guys was no problem, but putting them in order was a different story...hence, there is no real order to mine.
- Mikkey Dee - King Diamond/Helloween/Motorhead (A very good instinctive drummer)
- Chris Adler - Lamb of God (Some of the most innovative double bass I've heard, not to mention creative use of cymbals in drum fills)
- Gene Hoglan - Strapping Young Lad (Lightining fast double bass, awesome beats, consistent blast beats...it's like watching a hummingbird when he plays)
- Brann Dailor - Mastodon (One of the few drummers I've heard, if not the only one, to incorporate a jazz style of drumming without sacrificing power. He's also probably the most musically competent drummer, as evidenced by Mastodon's progressive nature)
- Dave Lombardo - Slayer (Who else can play in the pocket at the speed of Slayer?)

I think Neil Peart tops all these guys. Im sure they all owe something to him.
