I got a new cellphone that is Bluetooth ready, and I was wondering if there were any possible way to shorten songs from my music collection to 30 sec. clips and transfer them to the phone?

Well, since you don't have built in bluetooth (like me, sucka!), you'd need a bluetooth usb dongle. This one looks about right.

I'm sure you'll have to cope with some ass backwards software, but it'll be worth it in the long run. As far as cutting songs up, I think Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/) could help you out with that.

I've been interested in sound editing/recording, so I downloaded audacity, but for some reason, my microphone won't record. I've found the hardware, and it says that the microphone is turned on and working properly. I've made the necessary adjustments in audacity (microphone volume and making sure the input is indeed the correct device), but that doesn't help. It doesn't record in good ol' Windows Sound Recorder either. So, I guess the microphone isn't on or something? Any ideas how to turn it on or otherwise fix this problem?

I'm using a laptop, so the microphone should be built in, not an external unit. Just thought you might need to know that.

Check the input volume in the control panel. Maybe your mic is muted.

Windows'll have the Mic slider without there actually being a microphone present too, if it's supposedly built into the laptop, you sure it's there?

Have you got a problem with that?

I'm assuming. Ursinus gives us new laptops every two years, and I know my old laptop had a microphone, so I figured this one would have one, too.

And the mic volume is all the way up.
