3. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
4. Reservoir Dogs
5. Tough choice... I guess I'll go with This is Spinal Tap

Honorable Mention: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band featuring Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees!

Oldboy
A Clockwork Orange or The Warriors (can't decide)

I think Shaun of the Dead belongs in there too, I just can't decide!

That's like deciding between a sensual massage and a spider-egg enema.

The Devils Rejects

Just out of curiousity, could you explain why you like this movie? Ever since it came out I've heard people say they love it, but for the life of me I can't wrap my mind around why.

I haven't seen Devil's Rejects, but from what I understand, both Devil's Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses were love letters to the 1970's style of horror movies. They're both jam-packed with homages to old films. The only ones I know of for sure were the Texas Chain Saw Massacre references in House of 1000 Corpses. Basically, they're movies for people who love old style horror.

Rob Zombie also puts his own kooky editing twist on them that makes them look a lot like his music videos, which is cool I guess, if you're into that kind of thing. I'm not particularly, unless it works really well, but I can at least appreciate why he made these movies.

Joe could probably explain it a lot better.

I was wondering the same thing, actually. I saw the Devil's Rejects, and I guess any clever references or editing techniques or other goodness went way over my head. I thought it was one of the worst movies I'd ever seen.

See I understand that its an homage to earlier movies, but for me that doesn't make it good. An homage to bad movies is still a bad movie.

What about movies like Planet Terror and From Dusk Till Dawn, Ethan?  Both of those are what you could consider homages to shitty b-movie horror flicks from the 70's, but those are both great movies.  Not to say that House of a 1000 or Devil's Rejects are great movies, because I don't believe that for a second, I'm just saying you can take something bad and make it good.

Well sure, but I can list other reasons why Planet Terror is a good movie besides the fact that it is an homage. Its just that whenever I ask someone why they like devil's rejects, I get the homage answer, which for me isn't enough to make it a good movie.

I think it's a lot like the appeal of camp. When done artfully or creatively, the use of camp in a movie, even though by normal standards it makes the movie "bad" has appeal because it's so bad, it's enjoyable. John Waters is a good example of someone who does this well, even though I'm not particularly fond of his movies.

And of course, that's just the explanation as I understand it. For me, you're preachin' to the choir. I hated House of 1000 Corpses, and I'm pretty sure if I saw it again, I'd still hate it.
